Established 1983

The 1300E - An Introduction

   The first generation 1300E's were 2 door saloon styles  (the four door was introduced in 1974) and just two colours were available - Metallic Purple Velvet or Metallic Amber with triple stripes on the flanks connecting headlamps to tail lamps. Inside, wooden fascia and wood capping's on the door and rear quarter trim panels added an extra touch of class, as did the sporty three spoke steering wheel and six instrument dash pod. Demand was brisk - Halewood couldn't cope with the rush and apparently the first 5000 cars were completed at the AVO factory in Essex.

The Club

    Our little club (currently around 60 members) was formed in 1983 to cater for only 1300E Escorts, two and four door versions both standard and modified. We are still going strong and are looking forward to celebrating another double Anniversary year, twenty-five years for the club and thirty-five years for the car.

   When you join the club you get with your membership card an article from 'Motor' magazine in 1973 that describes the 1300E extremely well. You will also receive a club magazine 4 times a year, the opportunity to buy club regalia and the chance to meet other enthusiastic members at Natter Nights and car shows throughout the year. We currently have a 'National Day' once a year in July and attend regional shows helped along by our show co-ordinators. As the legend goes there were approximately 11,000 1300E's built at the Halewood plant - Help us to find out how many are still on the road and to keep them going.

  

 In order to join as a full member of our club you must own a genuine MK1 Escort 1300E 2 or 4 door model, standard or modified.

You can join as an affiliated member at a reduced rate if you have a genuine interest in the car but don't own one.
